The GTI has got a significant presence at the Eight European Conference on Technology-Enhanced Learning 2013, where Davinia Hernández-Leo (GTI, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona) has been Program Chair together with Tobias Ley (Tallin University).

The Signal Orchestration System (SOS) was shown at the demonstration exhibition and participated in the TEL demo sprint contest (demo presented by Juan Pablo Carrascal). The demo was awarded with a “TEL Demo special recognition” (second demo with higher votes from the attendees). The demonstration paper is published in the proceedings:

Hernández-Leo, D.; Nieves, R.; Carrascal, J.P.; Blat, J.; Signal Orchestration System for Face-to-Face Collaborative Learning Flows. In: Proceedings of 8th European Conference on Technology Enhanced Learning, EC-TEL 2013, Paphos, Cyprus, September 2013, LNCS 8095, pp. 560–564, 2013. (Awarded with a TEL Demo special recognition)

The application of QuesTInSitu to a case in which older users design and experience an m-learning activity was presented by Patricia Santos as full paper:

Santos, P.; Balestrini, M.; Righi, V.; Blat, J.; Hernández-Leo, D.; Not interested in ICT? A case study to explore how a meaningful m-learning activity fosters engagement among older users. In: Proceedings of 8th European Conference on Technology Enhanced Learning, EC-TEL 2013, Paphos, Cyprus, September 2013, LNCS 8095, pp. 328–342, 2013.

Besides, an extended gamified version of QuesTInSitu, “QuesTInSitu: The Game” was demonstrated at the demo exhibition and the sprint contest.

A short paper summarized the first efforts of the Metis project in the design of the Integrated Learning Design Environment (ILDE) and the collection of early feedback from the application partners (work led by the GTI with contributions from other project partners):

The first ILDE prototype (http://ilde.upf.edu) was also shown at the demonstration exhibition and participated in the TEL demo sprint contest (demo presented by Yishay Mor, member of the Metis project at UK OU).

Finally, a poster paper presented a case study in which the UPF Campus de la Comunicació was “augmented” with “smart QR codes” supported by the etiquetAR tool:

Pérez-Sanagustín, M.; Melero, J.; Hernández-Leo, D.; Delgado Kloos, C.; Blat, J.; Transforming the campus into a digitally augmented learning space using etiquetAR. In: Proceedings of 8th European Conference on Technology Enhanced Learning, EC-TEL 2013, Paphos, Cyprus, September 2013, LNCS 8095, pp. 625–626, 2013. (The demo of etiquetAR, by Mar Pérez-Sanagustín – former member of the GTI now at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid-, received the TEL Best Demo Award)
